Surinder Spolia

Surinder Spolia, a national Bhartiyam expert was trained by choreographers from USSR, GDR and Bulgaria during the National Training camp at Gwalior, Madhya Pradesh in 1987.

He earned a certificate in physical education (1975-76) and later a bachelors in physical education (1986-87)  from Bharatiya Sharirik Shikshan Mahavidyalaya, Amravati.

Surinder has trained thousands of children and many teachers till date all around India.

In 1994, his choreographed item “Lotus in Kashmir” was selected by the Sports Authority of India (SAI) to be introduced at the national level.  The SAI assigned him to train teachers from around the country in Lakshmibai College of Physical Education at Gwalior (M.P.) and at Pune in Maharashtra.

His services were also utilized by the Sports Authority of India in different states on deputation viz. at Lucknow in Uttar Pradesh, Jankhalian Police Recruitment Training Centre in Punjab, Patna in Bihar, Jamalpur in Bihar, Pune in Maharashtra, Gomla in Jharkhand, Gwalior in Madhya Pradesh, Bangalore in Karnataka and in Delhi.

In 1994, “Lotus in Kashmir” choreographed by him was displayed at the opening ceremony of the National Games in the presence of the then President of India late Shri Shankar Dayal Sharma at Jawahar Lal Nehru Stadium at Pune in Maharashtra.


Machine Display originally choreographed by a Russian expert remembered by Surinder as 'Alexander' was adapted by him for Indian children. It was approximately taught to 7000 children in Surinder's career.
